For many children in our neighborhoods this time of year is the first week of school. Although summer may be officially over, a new season of safety is about to begin. Yellow school buses, school zones, and changing road conditions become part of our daily routines. When you see that yellow bus you can be certain there are children nearby.
I encourage you to slow down and proceed with caution. This goes for school zones too; you can expect heavier traffic, bicycles and pedestrians. This time of year weather related road conditions can change quickly and learning to slow down could save a life!
Try to leave a few minutes earlier and give yourself enough time for the yellow school bus. Rushing is a safety hazard and can cause accidents. Remember, there is someone at home who loves you and wants you to come home safely.
Have a safe day!
